Ahrend has announced the launch of its new Circular Hub in the United Kingdom, marking a significant milestone in the company’s international expansion of circular services and reinforcing its commitment to a more sustainable future for workplace furniture.
The new UK Circular Hub builds on the success of Ahrend’s established circular operations in the Netherlands, where the company has developed extensive expertise in furniture refurbishment, reuse, take-back programmes, and circular workplace consultancy. The initiative is designed to help organisations extend the lifespan of furniture assets, reduce waste, and lower carbon emissions while supporting the transition to a circular economy.
Launched in partnership with Renovo Services, the UK facility will serve as a central hub for the refurbishment, reuse, remanufacturing, and responsible recycling of office furniture. By combining Ahrend’s circular design and refurbishment expertise with Renovo’s operational capabilities, the partnership aims to provide businesses across the UK with practical and scalable circular workplace solutions.
Ahrend’s circular strategy is rooted in designing furniture for longevity, modularity, and easy disassembly. The company first established its Circular Hub in Veghel, the Netherlands, in 2021, bringing together circular consultants, furniture brokers, and refurbishment specialists under one roof. The facility was created to extend product lifecycles, keep materials in use for longer, and reduce the environmental impact of workplace furniture.
Since its launch, the Dutch operation has grown significantly, refurbishing thousands of products each month and helping organisations achieve substantial reductions in CO₂ emissions compared with purchasing new furniture. The model has become a cornerstone of Ahrend’s sustainability strategy and a blueprint for international expansion.
The UK Circular Hub will offer a comprehensive range of services, including furniture take-back schemes, workplace moves management, refurbishment programmes, circular consultancy, and responsible end-of-life recycling. Importantly, the service is designed to support furniture from multiple manufacturers rather than being limited solely to Ahrend products, helping organisations maximise the value of their existing assets.
According to Ahrend UK Managing Director Andy Barnard, the expansion represents the next phase in scaling circular services internationally. The company sees the UK as a key market for sustainable workplace innovation and aims to help organisations adopt more resource-efficient approaches to furniture management.
The launch comes at a time when businesses are increasingly seeking ways to reduce environmental impact while meeting ambitious ESG and net-zero commitments. Circular furniture solutions provide an opportunity to significantly reduce waste and carbon emissions by prioritising refurbishment, reuse, and asset optimisation over replacement.
For Ahrend, the UK Circular Hub is more than a new facility; it represents a strategic investment in the future of sustainable workplaces. By extending the life of furniture and promoting circular business models, the company aims to help organisations create more responsible, cost-effective, and environmentally conscious work environments.
As demand for circular solutions continues to grow, the launch positions Ahrend as a leading player in the transformation of the workplace furniture industry, demonstrating how innovation, sustainability, and commercial value can work hand in hand.
