James Beales Steps Up as Lead for Ahrend’s UK Techwall Department

A familiar face takes on a pivotal new role. As demand for Ahrend’s bespoke Techwall offering continues to grow across the UK market, James Beales has been appointed to lead the department — bringing deep product knowledge, strong client relationships and a clear vision for what comes next.

Since Ahrend UK and Techo UK merged under the Royal Ahrend banner in 2023, Techwall has become one of the most distinctive and commercially significant products in our UK portfolio. A fully bespoke, in-house manufactured system of built-in storage, lockers, seating booths and integrated workspace elements, Techwall is the kind of product that demands both deep technical understanding and the ability to guide clients through genuinely complex, made-to-measure briefs. It is not a product you sell from a brochure — it is one you design alongside your client.

Which is exactly why the appointment of James Beales as Lead Sales Representative for the UK Techwall department is such a natural and well-considered move. James is not new to Ahrend, nor to the demands of the product. He brings to this role a thorough grounding in how Techwall performs in real projects, what clients need to make confident decisions, and how to steer a specification from initial enquiry through to installed reality.

WHY JAMES BEALES?

James steps into the lead role for Ahrend’s UK Techwall department, bringing hands-on experience with the product and an established network across the UK architecture, design and fit-out sectors. In this new position, James takes ownership of Techwall’s commercial growth across the country — from initial client contact through to specification, project delivery and ongoing account development.

James has built his understanding of Techwall from the inside out. He knows its technical capabilities — the breadth of module types, the lock options, the integration of seating booths and water points, the possibilities that open up when a client is willing to think beyond standard storage — and he knows how to translate that knowledge into proposals that genuinely reflect what a space needs.

That combination of technical fluency and commercial instinct is precisely what the Techwall department needs at this stage of its development. As the product becomes better known across the UK market and project enquiries grow in both volume and complexity, having a dedicated, experienced lead to champion it is a logical and important step.

“Techwall is one of those products where the more a client understands it, the more excited they get. My job is to make sure they get there quickly — and that the end result is something they’re genuinely proud of.”     James Beales, Sales Representative, Techwall, Ahrend UK.

WHAT TECHWALL OFFERS AND WHY IT MATTERS?

For those less familiar with the product, Techwall is Ahrend’s fully bespoke built-in wall system — manufactured entirely in-house to the highest standards of craftsmanship. It encompasses a wide range of integrated elements that can be combined and configured to suit any space and any brief.

  • Lockers & storage
  • Bespoke module sizes, NFC-enabled smart locking, and a range of numbering and finish options
  • Storagewall
  • Wall-abutting or room-dividing configurations; coat cupboards, filing and general storage.
  • Integrated booths & seating
  • Built-in work booths and privacy enclosures, from solo focus pods to multi-person collaborative spaces.
  • Bespoke elements
  • Water points, recycle stations, base units and entirely custom configurations — all crafted in-house.

What makes Techwall genuinely special is its bespoke nature. There is no off-the-shelf version — every installation is designed and manufactured to fit the specific space, brief and aesthetic of the project at hand. That requires a sales process that is fundamentally consultative, and a lead who understands both the possibilities and the practicalities. James is well placed to do exactly that.

THE OPPORTUNITY AHEAD

The timing of this appointment reflects where the Techwall business is in its trajectory. Since the Ahrend and Techo merger brought the product fully into the Royal Ahrend UK offer, awareness and demand have grown steadily. Clients who come to Ahrend for workstations, task seating or soft furnishings are increasingly discovering what Techwall can do — and the enquiries that follow are often among the most ambitious and design-led projects we work on.

With James now leading the department, we have a single, dedicated point of expertise for Techwall across the UK. Architects, interior designers, fit-out contractors and end clients can engage with someone who knows the product comprehensively, can advise confidently on what is and is not achievable, and who will take ownership of a project from the first conversation to the final installation.

It is the right appointment at the right moment — and we are delighted to see James take on this well-deserved new chapter in his Ahrend career.

“James has the knowledge, the relationships and the drive to take Techwall to the next level in the UK market. This is a really exciting appointment for the team.”    Andy Barnard, Managing Director, Ahrend UK.
